Time For Tots - Community DaycareHARLAN - The two-story 6,200 sq. ft. facility was built in 1993 and is the only licensed day care in Shelby County. It has the capacity for 125 children (newborn to age 5) and employs 45 staff members. Staff are certified in CPR and Red Cross first aid training, and must complete at least six hours of child care training per year.

The nearly $400,000 ADA-approved facility includes two complete playgrounds - one for infants and one for older children.

Time For TotsBasics:

  • Care hours: 5:30 am - 6 pm Mon. - Fri.
  • Meals: breakfast, lunch and two snacks
  • Individual educational training programs:
    *Infants - child stimulation activities
    *Toddlers - learning center activities
    *Three-year-olds - preschool program
    *Four to five year-olds - preschool program
  • Fire alarms on both floors, separate fire exits by each room.
  • More than 96 windows promote high visibility for child security, along with a computerized security system for child drop off/pickup make for a safe environment for your children. A kitchen, pantry, office, sick room and eight handicap accessible restrooms and toy and personal belongings, cubby and coat racks complete the facility.
  • Third Base Club - ages 6-12 Monday thru Friday before and after school care, non-school days and summer program.  School age curriculum held at New Park School.

Programs and activities of Time for Tots, Inc. are available to all children,
without regard to race, color, sex, handicap, creed, national or ethnic origin.

SHELBY COUNTY - Interested in home-based day care? Child Care Resources and Referral, Harlan, provides support services to parents, providers and the community in response to day care needs. They currently have on file over 50 home-based day care providers.
