Elk Horn's Salem Lutheran Home - is a 156-bed group home, with 56 beds devoted to residential, 10 for skilled care, 10 for Alzheimer care and 80 nursing beds.
Earling's Little Flower Haven is a licensed intermediate care facility with a 52-member staff caring for 62 residents.

Myrtue Medical Center offers a wide range of medical services through Myrtue Memorial Hospital
and the Harlan Medical Clinic, and Behavioral Health Department, the Shelby Medical Clinic,
the Avoca Medical Clinic and the Elk Horn Medical Clinic.

Myrtue Medical Center houses eight physicians and three physicians assistants and one nurse practitioners with room for an additional four physicians. Satellite clinics are also located in Elk Horn, Shelby and Avoca in Pottawattamie County.
