Iowa Western
Community College Iowa Western Community College has provided service to the citizens of southwest Iowa for nearly 32 years. It is Iowa's fourth largest community college with over 5,630 students and is the only "public" college in a seven-county area with centers in Harlan, Atlantic and Shenandoah.
Iowa Western Community College - The college is located on a picturesque, 262-acre campus in Council Bluffs (40 minutes away). It offers a comprehensive college experience, including more than 80 college transfer and technical-education programs on a semester credit format, making the transfer of credits to four-year institutions much more convenient. Accreditation - Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, students planning to attend a four-year institution find their credits transfer easily, both locally and nationally. In addition, Iowa Western has specific transfer agreements with regional universities such as Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, Iowa, allowing students to take the first two years of college at Iowa Western. Iowa Western Foundation - helps support the student body by conducting fundraising activities and awarding scholarships and has assets over $1 million, with an endowment of $620,000. Partners in Economic Development - IWCC's Economic Development department works with many businesses and industries throughout southwest Iowa, contributing to thousands of new jobs. More help is provided by IWCC's Small Business Development Center which aids in creating and establishing small businesses in the area. Another positive for Iowa businesses is the International Business Institute which provides low-cost or free help for businesses tapping into the international marketplace.
